I picked up a brochure at the last boat show for a "PileGard" piling wrap.
On our new dock, there are hard plastic wraps around them, to prevent growth. On neighbor's docks at low tide there are lots of pilings which are eaten almost completely through, so this seems important.
This brochure is for a tightly wrapped and sealed vinyl wrap that looks much more durable than these plastic ones, and indeed if I cruise the canals I see quite a few broken and coming loose on relatively new looking docks (e.g. a few years old, not a dozen).
They don't give exact pricing but the costing analysis looks like around $100/piling. Not cheap when I'm already wrapped with "brand X".
Anyone used such things? Are they worth the effort/cost in comparison to the more simplistic wrapping?
