I have a 1998 Carver Mariner in need of new drapes. I know I could have them made, but wondering if anyone has found drapes that fit the Mariner. I know the model remained the same for many years, wondering if the drapes are interchangeable with later models?

Ya, we had some made as well, although we skipped the drapes and went with a pull down shade that runs on a track. The local that did ours was a genius with this. If I remember, I will take some pictures this weekend and post. The shade pulls up and down and stays in place wherever you stop. Wish I could remember what they were called...

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures, but this is the place we got them through and installed by. They are the pleated shades and they run on tracks on the left and right side.

Thanks for the info, I will look in depth tonite, but they do have service in my area! How do yours work as far as privacy and heat? What year Mariner do you have, and what color did you get. I certainly understand how weekends go, but if you ever think of it take a picture, would love to see a finished product! Thanks again for the info!

I will try my hardest to remember to take a picture for you. I am really happy with how they did this for us, wasn't cheap (500ish), but works awesome and they have a five year warranty replacement no matter what, can't beat that.
As far as privacy, they have different colors, but we got a light tan color that works with out interior, but you can't see through it at all. Heat, well, keeping it in or out, not really anything going to help with that...

The door on the Mariner is not perfectly square, so it doesn't fit across the top perfectly, but about 4 inches short across the top, but you really don't notice it. I wil get some pictures and it will make more sense.

OK, grabbed a couple of picture for you, hopefully these links work... Some of them a bit blurry and I couldn't grab a full picture as the sun was not cooperating...
Right side (little gap along right due to the shape of the actual door is not perfectly square, wider at top than bottom)

So on the right there is a second shade that is about 1/4 the size of the main shade. This is do to a little bump along the bottom of the door that makes this part shorter, that pic didn't come out. The main shade is spring loaded so it slides up and down with very little pressure from the bottom and will stay in any position all along the track. The right smaller side has a pull string.
So, the place we got these from is called Budget Blinds and the style shade is the Signature Series. I think it cost around 600 to install, but works well and gives a feeling of more room in the cabin. If you decide to stay with drapes, I like "semi-custom" drapes. Buy regular home drapes, cut them down and hem them. A whole lot less expensive than custom. If no-one in the family can sew, there is heat-activated tape that can make a hem with just an iron.

Tip-sea: Ya, we love them and worth the cost of them, it makes the interior look more open too. They let some light through, but you really can't see through them at all. Hind sight, I think we should have got darker ones to let less light through when the sun is beating down the back door, but otherwise they are great.
stmbtwle: My wife, being somewhat crafty, re-did the hanging curtain around the edge of the v-berth using that stuff. I was pretty impressed and turned out nicely.
The only thing I don't like about having those curtains at the back door, our door leans inward so the curtains over time bow inward and hang funny. With these track shades, that doesn't happen, no bowing in. When we leave for the week, I push them up all the way so they keep their shape and spring. Worked nicely now for about 5 years.
