Over the past weekend we inadvertantly drained the water tank dry. We refilled the tank, turned the water pump back on and...nothing. I can hear the pump running but no water. Before I call on the local repair guys does any one have any suggestions?

the line to the pump from the tank is air bound not a big deal and certainly not dumb, dumb, dumb. Open the line at the pump and let some water flow then reconnect.
I could tell you what really dumb things to do are but i wouldn’t want to give you any new ideas.
 
Usually if you open a faucet to bleed off the air, the pump will prime itself.
 
Thanks guys. I've tried leaving a faucet open to bleed off the air but perhaps have not given it enough time, Willie. If that doesn't work then I'll open the line at the pump.
