I was hooking up my battery yesterday and the alternator started smoking. Quickly unhooked the battery. When the smoke cleared, I touched the battery cable on the post and it sparked alot. I figured that it was the alternator shorting out. I installed a new alternator today, and still have a short when trying to hook the battery up. I disconected all alternator wires, hooked the battery up (no sparks, engine turns over, everything else works). When I touch the positive wire to the battery terminal on the alternator, I get a huge spark. Any ideas????
