Vic, I have an Electra-San with the MC controller. It's working perfectly but I'm wondering if I should do a muriatic acid treatment prior to winter layup.
Please advise.

Bob, that shouldn't be necessary, just flush about 5 gallons of clean water through it, run a couple of cycles, then pump it out and leave it empty for the winter.

Vic, should the 5 gallons be fresh (not salt) water ? Either way; when I run the couple cycles, what kind of water for that, fresh or salt?

If you're laying it up for the winter, use fresh water. That way you won't likey have to worry about the water being loaded with calcium, which will settle out and adhere to the electrodes.

Run it 2 or 3 times before adding the fresh water - it won't run if it's full of fresh water.

Vic, let's see if I have it right.
1) Run it 2-3 times with sea water.
2) Flush system with 5 gallons of fresh water.
3) Run couple cycles with fresh water.
4) Pump out any standing water in unit.

Vic, if my post of Sept. 25 is 100% correct; how much fresh water should I pour in toilet when doing step #3 ? I ask this because you said, "it won't run if it's full of fresh water".
