I HAVE A 1987 WELLCRAFT St. Tropez, I need too replace the sink faucet in the head but I don't see anyway to access the thing. The cabinet does not have a door you could open to access it. Has anyone had any experience in replacing their faucet? I would be thankful for any advise anyone has to help me figure this out.

Bill is talking about what is called a drop in sink mounted only on the surface of the counter.
The drain would have to be flex hose to lift it out but direct overboard is common on boats instead of P traps..

I agree with Bruce and Capt. Bill, what is the vanity's top made of? Depending on the type of material you can carefully use a razor knife to get underneath the sink. Once you remove the Silicon carefully lift the sink. This should give you the access needed.
Bill

Thanks guys your trying to help but the sink and counter are all one molded piece. In 1988 or 1989 Wellcraft put a door in the cabinet, of course mine doesn't have any kind of access to under the sink.

You might want to consider cutting a door or access area large enough to work on the fixture. Then when you are done cut a piece of Starboard and cover the access hole. What color is the vanity's cabinet?
Bill

A hatch could be used to hide a hole.

A one piece counter top is also dropped in. It is probably glued to the cabinet or look for screws underneath. Perhaps you could just lift the entire counter top.

Or cut a hole and place an acccess port to allow future access.

Thanks everybody. Bill the countertop and cabinet are in my opinion an off white. I think I will cut a hole similar to what Wellcraft went to 1n 1989. It's about 24" x 18". To make a door for it I think I will use mirrored stainless and see if I can get someone to "roll" it to match the curve of the piece I cut out. I will make the door about a half inch bigger on all four sides than the original piece cut out. I would probably attaché it with a couple of chrome hinges (depending of the thickness of the stainless) or attach it with chrome screws. Whatever I do, it needs to look nice. I Thank everyone for their comments.

If you can carefully cut the piece itself can become the door with a little auto trim molding overlapping and hiding the cut.

I think Bruce is referring to something similar to what I did in my cockpit to make an extra locker. The door is the same piece I cut out:

Phil, is there another area you can cut an access whole that isn't visible? Perhaps on the other side of the sink? Some place you could install and inspection port and it wouldn't be the focus of attention?

Minmax, what's the trim you user around you cut hole? Thanks.

I think the trim can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes look in the bathroom cabinet area.
You have to make sure your cut is almost perfect or it won't work.
Make sure you tape off the area so there is no contact with the jigsaws pads.
Good luck let us see the results when you have completed this task.

Sooo, I just have figure out if I "THINK" I could cut straight enough to reuse the cut out piece as the door. Hmmm, if I am going to do that I should probably practice on a 5 gallon bucket, although the inspection plate idea might work on the other side of the wall, the sofa "might" hide it. Guys thank you for the 2 great idea's. We only get to the boat once a month for 4 days (we in the Phoenix, Az area the boat in San Diego, Ca. We have been busy on having new canvas put in and I have been replaceing some other plumbing and changing over to LED lighting as much as I can.

Changing to LED lighting is generally a very good upgrade to do.

Wow, I missed your question. Sorry for the delay in my response!

I couldn't find any trim that would fit so I used white non-skid tape! It worked well, didn't it? :-)
