If you ever get the chance to go fishing in Guatemala I would definitely suggest it. The country is a bit dangerous, but we caught (and released) 170 sailfish between 4 boats in 4 days. The captains will turn and back the boats to stress the fish less, but they will let you fight them if you ask. Man was it fun. We stayed at a great resort/lodge about 5 minutes from the marina (behind a 20 foot wall with broken glass embedded in the top to keep people out as well as a guard with a shotgun standing by the front gate 24/7!) Seriously though, it is a beautiful country. Antigua (not to be confused with the Carribean Antigua) is an incredible city in the mountains. We went there after the fishing and stayed in the only 5 star hotel in Central America which is a converted monastary called Casa Santo Domingo (http://www.casasantodomingo.com.gt/english/index.html). Just unbelievable! The fishing though, made the trip obviously. Can't argue with an average of 10 sailfish per boat per day!
