As many of you know I had a bum build two motors for me in Fort Lauderdale and they have broken repeatedly over the last 2 years. Last October I put in a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

The owner has refused to provide the written response they have demanded from him in the time allowed. He verbally claims that I broke the motors and the icing on the cake is:
There is nothing our wonderful governement can do about it....so why does the BBB exist?

Apparently Florida does not require any certifications for people to work on boats or motorcycles. Since he is not breaking any rules regarding legal certifications their hands are tied. They can't even force him to respond to them in writing. What a crock!

My only choice is to hire a lawyer at my expense and go after him and try to prove that he had them mis-configured from day one and is an unethical SOB and should pay for the losses incurred by his poor work.

SIDE NOTE and the bigger picture:
Let's face it, one can die easily when a boat malfunctions when off shore and one can get killed instantly if something mechanical goes bad on a motorcycle -yet there are no laws to protect or ensure some basic level of competence in Florida??? What is this the 3rd world?

If only this would get the attention of a "help me howard" (I've tried) or someone with a camera and some prime time on TV I'd have a prayer at getting some $$$ back.....I am disgusted with this systems lack of capability.

OK I'm done venting.
