Took the boat out yesterday. It's a Regal Destiny 2120 Bowrider. I have a small 12 gallon fresh water tank and when I turned on the sink it had kind of a smell to it. Not bad, but not good either.

2 qeustions:

1. Do I store the boat with the tank full or dry

2. do I need to "flush" it with anything periodically??

We really never used it for drinking, always take plenty of bottled water..

Thanks

I believe that keeping the tank completely full is recommended. However, I know from personal experience that a partially filled tank will grow all kinds of ugly black stuff that smells really bad!!!

If you're in an area where it won't freeze, leave the tank full. But if it freezes where you are, you'll have to drain it in the winter. In the linked thread above, the article by Peggie Hall is based on U.S. Government recommendations.

Thanks guys. Will flush with bleach as described, and will keep full.

I am in SW Florida, so no freezing here, just about year round boating. woohoo!!!
