Friend looking for Boston Whaler Outdrive...

Hi,
We have a good friend up at Fort Bragg. He got a "deal" on a 17.5 ft Boston Whaler, but needs an outdrive. I hope I am not out of line asking this here - - -

2000 Evinrude 150 ficht model outdrive, 1993 to present.

I am not familiar with the bargain bins around the Bay, I told him to go to Latitude 38 & look at their classifieds.

Any other ideas? He got the boat "bare bones" so to speak. He and his son want to fish off the coast up there. I think he has experience with some locals.

The FICHT engines are outboards. It sounds like he may want to go to a reputable shop and find out what it is that he really needs. I'm relatively sure that it will be an outboard and he has many choices from four stroke, to fuel injected two stroke, etc. The FICHT engines had a lot of problems the first couple of years they were produced, but I think the problems have been worked out now.

Thanks Dave, I will let him know. We plan on being at the boat tomorrow afternoon to check on the aft Vacuflush. It has a fresh water leak when I leave it pressurized. This friend is in town and has worked on boats, so he said he would look at it.

I hope he finds something.
