I need some advice as I am planning on checking this out. I will be trailering my boat up. I would like to drop it in. (Ramp suggestions) Watch the flotilla, (Good spot to anchor up sand bar or should I ride along with all the other knuckleheads) dock the boat at a hotel motel, Any places you would reccomend to spend the night with a dock, make it to the parade and then on to the block party. I was debating of not taking the boat but man does it seem like fun to be out on that water.

I had planned to launch from Davis Island. I have family that lives there so getting in and having a place to park would not be an issue. I lost my trailer (to a friend in need) so I will have a long ride down now. I have enjoyed the festivities from the land but not from the boat. I plan on joining all the other "knuckleheads" and following the route.

I found a hotel its about 15 mins from the parade route. The problem is what do I do w/ boat and trailer. Looks like I may be just boating it and trailering it home.
Still debating whether I follow the flotilla or find a spot i.e. sand bar etc to wait for them to pass by.

I will make a phone call and see if I can help you out with the parking/launching.

Hi, thanks for sharing your info. Being new to the TB area, we decided to make reservations on the Starship "tour boat" which sails in right next to the Gasparilla Pirate ship. Heard the boats are packed in and just wanted to be able to relax, enjoy the sites and sounds and eat & drink. The cruise is 2 1/2 hrs. and includes brunch. Have a great time!

Cheers, Laurie

Packed in is an understatement if you are near the pirate ship. Best to be in the front or hang out near the rear. I like your way of thinking. Let someone else deal with the madhouse.
Waiting on a return phone call on a spot for you Aqua. With the holidays, its been crazy.

5 days and counting.........
Joe, I have your phone number. Weather permitting, I will leave Friday, and anchor out that night, I plan on rafting up with you and watching the festivities. No balloon launchers will be on board.

If you want to start a wet t-shirt contest.[}}:-|>>]

EDIT: you have to be VERY careful, you CAN get in SERIOUS trouble if the wildlife and fisheries guys catch you throwing the balloons. I would suggest a super-soaker or water cannon.
Trust me on this. once you encapsulate the water inside the balloon, and then send it on its journey, it is considered "terrorist bombing with intent to do bodily harm".
