I have always had all my boats surveyed. It is a no brainer when you have tons of systems to inspect. It seems it usually cost about $18/ft.
Then I would get a mechanic to do the survey of the engine.
How does a survey work for a really simple boat who's main system is the engine.
I certainly would get a mechanic to check out the engine and drive.....but can you get somebody to look at things quick or is it just not worth it.
Of course all the brokers say small boats don't get surveyed......but I would say that if I was them, because no survey = no problems with sale even if the boat has a big problem.
I mean I've watched the hammer on the hull method and can look for bulging and cracks....
I think I know what the answer will be SURVEY IT!! But not sure what the rate is etc.
