LMAO!!!
My wife recently rec'd an alert sent out by the DB Community Services District about a giant squid eating small boats and terrorizing the waterfront development. It also warned to keep children, pets and even small VW's away from the water! [:-jester]
It also sent another warning about a sewage dump into the water in the pond in the lakeside development on the west part of DB.
In reality, it was just another (of many) slip-ups of the system while it was being upgraded by IT techs.
The first one was obviously a spoof, but the second one was (sadly) an actual occurance from a few years ago.
Heck, I remember back when an "alligator" was spotted and eventually caught in the area of the north side of the development. It turned out to be a cayman and F&G figured it was a pet that got too big for the family that owned it so they released it into the river. [:O]
I'm signed up for quite a few of these "alert" systems as part of my job, but the VW eating squid was a first for me! [:-spin]
What's next? A humpback whale being spotted in the Sac River above Rio Vista???
Nah, that will never happen!
