I'm looking for a small, 14'-17' aluminum boat to use on inland lakes. Would prefer a tiller steer to maximize fishing room. I have *zero* experience with tin boats, so I'm hoping to engage the experts for recommendations :)

I grew up on a 10hp lake and spent a lot of time in different brands, in that lengthtiller steer I don't know if it matters. I have a 16' Starcraft that is 22 years old and still going strong. Find one with a layoutprice that you like and go for it. A flat floor is a big plus in that size range.

Good luck

Lund is great, alweld, alumacraft, sears are great too. Welded is better than riveted. I dont know where your at but I have one I'd sell or trade for a Jon boat. I think I like the stability of a jon boat better than the V's.
Also in a jon, get the widest bottom you can afford.
