That's what the Hudson River looked like on a sunday afternoon in july in the ninties when everyone had a boat and the marinas were all full with a long waiting list.
 
Yes they did. Even the little original Penny Bridge that was actually under the Penny Bridge had a waiting list. At one point there were no slips available anywhere in this area. Times sure have changed.
 
Mineceongo had a 10 year wait. Nobody left until they died. You had to pay your slip fee in full by october 30 for next year. About a week after the deadline all slips were sold. If you went down in the spring for a slip, sold out. I got my slip around 1992 beccause they threw someone out for unruly behavior in june. I got the slip because I am a town resident. Slips were not transferable. If you sold your boat the buyer had to pay for the slip even though you already did. Hard to believe with all the empty slips now but those were the good old days.
 
The was a mooring field in front of the HM breakwall, you had to moor you boat there as a first step to getting a slip in the marina.
 
I believe in the 80's SPBM was Seaweed Yacht club. Most of the marinas then had mooring balls outside the breakwater to handle the overflow. I don't think it will ever be like that again.
