I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. Now that the new boat is headed to the factory, I have turned my attention (to the dismay of my wife) towards accessories. I am contemplating getting a GPS chart plotter. I already have a garmin Rhino that has the nav markers on it, I also have a cell phone which connects to a bluetooth gps receiver (which I use for car navigation) and can purchase a marine nav software package for. That being said, I thought it would be nice to have a built in, purpose built piece of hardware onboard. I would only use it for night time aids in navigation, and maybe a once a season trip out to the western part of the state, or to NYC. Do you think that something like the Garmin 172 is worth the investment, or just stick to what I have? Thanks.
