As some may know we bought our first boat last summer in July a Sundancer 310; for the remainder of the smmer we stuck very close to home getting the feel of the dancer, improving our local knowledge and honing our skill; as well as taking a very basic safe boating course.
Since she was put on the dry for the winter the wife and I are getting ready for our first season of "crusing"; we took one USPS course and are scheduled for another in February. This summer we hope to start out with short trips (we are in NJ) to NYC and by the ned of the summer work up to Atlantic City and cap the summer off with a trip to either Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard.
Along with improving our skill we are also starting to get the gear that is needed to make these trips safely assuming that things go bad. The last two items we are looking for are a Gperb (most likely a ACR Gobal Fix) and a life raft. First on the list is the Life Raft; the front runner is the Winslow 8 man costal. I would love to hear the feedback from others who have made investments in surival gear. Your thought would be greatly appreciated.
PS. If any Jersey boaters are planning some long weekends and are looking for company we would always be interested.
