We ran over to Haverstraw to get gas today and after 15 gallons the pump slowed to about 0.1 gallons a minute. Then everyone started complaining. The kid running the dock went and dipped the tanks and they were dry! On a positive note, I pumped out and flushed the tank several times to finish that up for the season.

How bad is the fuel I got today? I mentioned my concerns about getting the last few gallons out of the tanks but noone seemed to concerned.

Most tanks get pumped a few inches from the bottom.
All fuel passes thru the same pump suction.
The worst time to get fuel is right after filling the marina tank.
It gets stirred up.
The fuel going into the tank is about as clean as it can get.
The water/trash build up over time at the marina is the problem.
The helicopter fuel tank on our platform is set at a slight angle.
Someone has to sample the lower end every evening.
If there is any trash or water, it can be drained off.
If your marina has an above ground tank, they should be able to
drain off the not so good stuff from the bottom of the tank.

Glad I got there early and filled up.

Par for the course over there. Surprised the pump outs worked for ya. Only one was working last weekend.

I hat when that happens. Happened to me at Englewood a few times including recently. Pete told me that the pumps leave 300 gallons in the tank so I don't have to worry about water or anything like that. Never had a problem with the fuel. Just the hassle of not being able to fill up and uneven tanks. It always works out that I get one tank full and then they run out just after I start the other side. And I don't have a fuel transfer pump.
