Anyone know how to remove the helm seat from the slider that it is on?
 
Hit the ejection button that should do it. Actually I have no idea I have never had a reason to try. Why do you want to remove it?
 
Some of the screws are loose and need re-tightening.
 
Don't put words in my mouth I may have said you had a screw loose:)

I have an electric seat so I'm sure it doesn't mount the same.
 
If it is anything like the three Carvers I've owned, the seat is based on a cut sheet of plywood. The screws at the bottom screw into the threads of a three or four prong T-Nut.

If the screws turn and turn, the wood is wet and rotted, and the tnut is turning in the wood.

I had to do this job on my 42 and I just did it on my 36. I ended up using a 1/8" drill bit as pilot hole into the center of the screw, and drilled down to a depth below the head. Then I used a 3/8" drill bit and drilled until the head of the bolt came off.

Then you get to pull all the staples and strip the vinyl off, use the wood base as a template, and cut out a new one. Go to the hardware store, get some new tnuts, and reassemble. A nice day wasted - do it on a rainy day.
 
First, I need to get it off the tracks that it slides back and forth on, then I can get to the screws.
 
Have you asked the seat mechanics at American Airlines?

Had to do ours on a 1999 350. Really hard to get to the hardware. I think we used an "s" shaped screwdriver to get between the seat bottom and the seat base. Took a while, but got it done. I put in new Tnuts while I had the seat out. Had to remove the seat to have it redcovered. Hope I don't have to go through that again! Good luck!

There is no room! I assumed there was a release to take it off the track but I have never looked, never had a reason to look. Maybe the track screws on from underneath again I have never looked but don't recall any bolts underneath.

When you figure it out let us know I may want to remove both seats to redo the arch one of this days.
 
As I recall from redoing my helm seat on my Montego, you have to move the slider to certain positions to expose the screws that bolt it to the seat bottom. It was almost 15 yrs. ago and the details are kinda foggy. I remember it was kind of a pain in the backside.
 
I can't slide the seat enough to get to all the screws. It looks like there is a pin in the end of the slider, I'll try knocking or drilling it out.
 
Hogan - In the cabinet behind the helm seat you will see the back wall comes off with screws. That exposes the electrical panels. From there you should be able to access the screws that hold the whole thing, tracks and all down. Mine is a 97 though so yours might vary a bit.
 
Bruce our boat use a totally different mount, well at least mine is.

John is your seat powered or manual?
 
I couldn't knock the pins out, so I'm going to try what John suggested.
 
My seat is powered. I am thinking of changing the mount a bit though so it can go about 4" farther forward and sit 4" taller. Just a preference to fit me when sitting. Right now if I sit the windshield edge is in my line of sight. I can't go lower so I need to go higher :-)
