Hey all.
Am about to place an order for a complete, closed, fresh water cooling system and would just like to double check my part number search.
1989 350 Merc I/O, engine number OC570867 (raw water cooled now) carbed engine.
Looks like the cooling system I need is CC350SM (pretty straight forward)
I'm also replacing the manifolds. This is where I am unsure. Are there special ones for closed cooling systems vs raw water? I only see two listed at boatfix (or actually only one as port and starboard look to be the same) 18-1953 (SIE1819531)
Anything I may have overlooked as far as required parts? I believe my elbows are reusable (will know for sure upon teardown)
Last question. While I'm in there I want to replace the valve covers and gaskets. They started leaking this year and the covers have also begun to rust. I thought I'd go with nice new factory covers (in the hopes that the paint will be new) instead of spending the time to clean, bead blast, and paint (and hope the metal isn't so thin (rusted) that it's a waste anyhow) Does boatfix carry them, and if not, any recommendations as to suppliers? Think I could get something at a local parts house? (they are the style with the bolts down the center as opposed to the perimter)
Thank you!
Mark
