Last week I had both of my holding tanks emptyed by a truck with a long hose. The tanks read empty when he was done and still do but they have to be at least half. Are they broken from the extra suction or has someone had this problem and they just need to be tapped or something.
Thanks,

Billy K.

the floats are probably stuck. with them half full some sloshing around in a seaway will probably free them up.

That's a little confusing. The tanks are half full or the gauges read half full but the tanks are empty? Are they really empty?

If your tanks are broken, you will soon know it.

The tanks are fine. It's definately a guage problem. I was wondering if they are broken from the extra suction or if they will loosen up. I will find out this weekend as we are going away. Thanks

I doubt they're broken from the suction. They're more likely "crapped up" or corroded.

Thanks Vic,

Crapped up is bad, right? :)

As Vic posted, suction won't harm the gauges. Actually, it's not the gauges but the senders, the devices that determine the level in the tank. Since there are two or three different types, the next question is: What type of senders do you have?

More importantly, it's unlikely that the senders in two seperate tanks would malfunction at the same time in the same fashion. Is there one gauge that is switched back and forth between two tank senders or two seperate gauges? Is there any common wiring that might have become loose or damaged?

Hey guys,

The two head systems are completely seperate. The fact that it is unlikely doesn't faze me in the least. The more unlikely it seems, the more likely it probably is. All kidding aside after bouncing around this weekend out in the bay, the stern sending unit is reading "low" so one of them is fixed. If the other continues to be a problem, I will get back with more info.
Thanks for your advise and help.
