There is a Courtyard by Marriot and a Towne Place Suites on 110 in Farmingdale adjoining Republic Airport that might fit the bill. They're pretty conveniently located north of the Southern State Pkwy near several chain restaurants, a couple of Movie Theaters, Starbuck's etc.. I've never stayed at either of these two particular places, but have stayed at other properties belonging to those companies over the years and they are generally pretty good.
I can think of a few other places a little further south or east, but I think they are the type that probably charge by the hour if you know what I mean.
There is a few others further north closer to, and around, the Melville area. The Hilton and Melville Marriot come to mind, but they are probably a little more expensive since they seem to cater more to business type conferences. It probably wouldn't hurt to check them out online though. I think there is also a Hilton Garden Inn and a Homewood Suites up around that area if you want to be closer to the Expressway. I have stayed at a couple of other Hilton Garden Inns and they were always pretty decent too.
