Gun cay and honeymoon were the last nice anchorage. Since the airport in both BIM and CAT is so small, tourists will be shuttled from the Resort world ferry and you can bet they will also shuttle them to Honeymoon and gun.

Sad.

It makes me wonder if this will have any positive influence on the surrounding areas that are more like slums than a destination.

Speaking of big resorts and failures do you think the Bahamian courts will allow the Delaware Bankruptcy to hold?

I am betting not. Right after saying this, I opened up the Tribute, and it was rejected. I think it was a pretty petty attempt to get control of things.

The next moved could be ugly for the original developers.

"They said with the various expansion projects, the resort will become a “jewel, not just in The Bahamas, but in the entire Caribbean”."

Sadly all they have done and are doing is turning a diamond in the rough into a cheap zircon.

Well said...

We went for Labor Day and stayed at bimini bay because our guests wanted to... Waht a mess. Still construction, crowds, wakes. Sea planes roaring back and forth etc...awful .we had to go way around the north point to find a natural stretch of beach so our guest could at least get a taste of what the bahamas are supposed to be about.

A dock neighbor of mine was there too and described the atmosphere around the resort pool that week end... Apparently the ferry brings the $50 Hialeah crowd which leads to x rated shows in the pool followed by a massive fight at the bar.

Now that said, if they invest some money back in the community maybe something positive Will happen... The island could use a facelift

I was encouraged to see roads being repaved but given the Bahamas generally avoid things like sidewalks and other requirements I see no value add. Bakers Bay development was supposed to provide quite a bit for Guana Cay and never did. I have no doubt that this place will follow a similar tact of unfulfilled promises to enhance the surrounding community.
