Okay, the season's now over and I'm scrambling for something to write about for my Nor'easter column. Help!!! I've never done this before, but it seems like a fun wrap up for the season.

What I'm looking for are funny but true stories of your boating adventures this past season. Be honest, be truthful. Don't be a lying weasel like my friend who steered me into the wrong slip and then blamed it on me--just because it was my boat and my marina, he thought he could make it look like it was my responsibility; the nerve of the guy--tell me or e-mail me (rdgreenwoodrb2@gr5tcomcast.net) your favorite anecdote. The winner will receive a free copy of Nor'easter (he or she will be responsible for picking it up).

Okay, it's me again. I don't know why the extra characters appeared in my e-mail address, but the characters after "rdgreenwood" and before "rb2@gr5t" and after "rb2@gr5t" and before "comcast.net" shouldn't be there.

By now I'm probably boring you to tears! The problem seems to be the symbol we use in place of "at." My e-mail address is a combination of three things: "rdgreenwood"; the accursed symbol we use in place of "at"; and "comcast.net" Why do things have to be so complicated?

Dick,

As moderator of the Chesapeake and Delaware Bay Forum I'll take responsibility for explaining the wierd characters to you (the weird characters in your post, not those who post here!;))

In order to frustrate spammers and commercial entities from cluttering our little cyber harbor which we call "BoaterEd", he who lords over the harbor (hereafter refered to as the Grumpy Ex-Towboat Captain or GexTBC for short) has established secruity measures at the entrance to the harbor which magically changes the ampersand or "at" symbol into a language and words that were used by ancient Viking mariners. The revised word translates in modern English to "Hell, no! You ain't posting that garbage here, you scurvy toad!" So simply insert "at" at the appropriate spot and you'll get your email address posted as such.

Hope this helps.
I'll be sending you something to consider for sharing in the Nor'easter.
BTW, I guess you didn't sell the boat?

Okay here goes:

I was going out of the Ocean City, MD inlet one day, in my 23 foot bowrider.....Oh wait, that was Bob. Nevermind!:-)

Thanx, Mike. That makes sense. You can't expect them (the boating gods) to fully understand the needs of the press. Of course, I don't understand them either now that I think about it.

It is? Heck, good thing I just canceled my plans to come over to your marina this weekend. Dang, nobody told me! (actually, I canceled due the nasty storm system that's forecast to come through...but I'll be back on the Chesapeake the next decent weekend). We were going to take some friends and have them stay up in the V.I.no-Pee room. We'll try again in November.

Back to the OP... Dick, if you need some content, we took our little 30-footer down to Florida and over to the Abacos/Bahamas this year. It's a trip I'll never forget and plan to do again next May. It might be good for a paragraph or two if you want. Details are at undock.com and I can add to it if it helps you.

FYI: We're almost right across the bay from you in the Pasadena area.
