Hi everybody, got back last night and sad to say, am back at my desk at Raritan this morning. Why sad? Because the week went way too quickly. Spent Thursday-Sunday with Mimi (Amelia) and her husband, in Edenton, NC, which is a beautiful area, then headed an hour or so north, to Virginia Beach, and spent Monday and Tuesday there. Yesterday was dedicated to driving home.
Mimi and her husband Rob, were the perfect hosts and treated us like absolute royalty. My gratitude to both of them! They've been building their own houseboat for several years now, and they've built something for which they can be proud! It's about 2/3 done, and they're hoping to be touring Albemarle Sound with it by fall.
We visited many of the antebellum homes in the Edenton area, which were open for tours over the weekend. Many of the homeowners were dressed up in period costumes and explained the history of the house, additions, remodels and upgrades that were done to the houses, etc. The local Historical (hysterical?) Society underwrites the tours, and they occur every two years, in odd-numbered years. The whole town takes on a festive air, and it has become a tourist attraction bringing in hundreds, if not thousands, of visitors to the town for the weekend.
Monday and Tuesday were spent with a Raritan Dealer in Virginia Beach and his wife. I spent a little time with him Monday on a boat that was in the process of being commissioned for the season.
All in all, it was a very nice week that ended all too soon. So back to the grindstone and the normal routine again today (darn!).
