Info Req. for 1991-1998 Carver 28 (Model 280)

I am considering buying a 1995 Carver 28' (model 280, 9'6" beam) with single 7.4L Volvo Penta Duoprop. I believe this model was built from 1991 to 1998 and info on any engine configuration would be appreciated. Would any body be able to give me some idea of RPM, speed and fuel consumption at cruise? Any advice about the above or any other "got you's" with this model would be appreciated.

The boat actually came out in 1988 as the 2557 Montego and was avaialble with 5.7 and 7.4 liter Merc and Volvo powertrains. I had a 1990 model with the Volvo 7.4 duoprop which performed quite well. I burned approx 10 to 11 gph at a cruise of 25 mph. It has no inherant flaw that I'm aware of, but I would recommend a survey after you've decided on a particular boat. In the entire production run, the hull remained the same whereas the superstructure was changed several times to "update" the model. When it became the 280 Express, the interior was modified to have a v-berth, dinette, and mid cabin. Previous to that, it had a v-berth dinette combo and a mid cabin berth...also more floor space. It was also available with (depending on year) twin 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
