The renovated Inner Harbor Marine Center recently opened (formerly the Inner Harbor Marina). The website is noted below:

http://www.baltimoreinnerharbormarinecenter.com/

I'd be interested in comments from anyone who uses that marina this year.

We usually stay at the Inner Harbor East Marina when we visit the area. Their website has be down for quite sometime. Does anyone know if they changed?

There will be quite a bit of building going on around the Inner Harbor East Marina as soon as construction starts on the new Four Seasons Hotel.

Marko,

I had my boat in Inner Harbor East all last winter. It has now become a "transient only" marina due to the construction of the new Legg Mason/Four Seasons complex.... they are selling no more seasonal/annual contracts as they have no parking space of any form available. Even the building is being razed to be replaced with a barge holding the office/heads/showers, etc. Gas and Diesel pumps are gone as well; pump out is still available as of end of April. They are still the same friendly folks - the web site was reportedly being switched from one ISP to another when all the construction started in February - it literally changed their business 180 degrees in a matter of 2 weeks. I guess they still haven't got the web site straightened out yet.

The Admiral and I stayed there June 18 and would not stay again. I was taking on water from a small leak and requested a wet vac, none available. Additionally, my boat would not start, so I asked if they had a jump box...none available. Finally got the boat started and was coming around to gas up (.10 discount), and there were bass boats parked all around the pumps. It seems they are private operators who take folks on tours. Anyway, I call in for gas and the wind is blowing, one boat finally pulls away giving me a small area to pull into. I make my approach, the Admiral is ready to throw a line, but nobody comes out. One more thing. You have access to a pool but's it's a long walk.

There is another marina that is close to the Aquarium but I can't remeber the name.

Well, I stayed at anchorage marina in Canton over Mem weekend, was nice as usual. We've stayed at IHE several times and enjoy its location, but I did notice as Jim has mentioned, there is a ton of construction going on there...what's surprising though is I called about reservations there and they were totally booked...wouldn't think that if they are "transient only".

Recently stayed at Harborview Marina and had a blast. Very nice marina and nice people. Not in the Inner Harbor but a pleasent walk to the action. BigGrin

BillinPA,

Was that at Inner Harbor East or Inner Harbor Marine Center?

Thanks

I plan to stay at the Inner Harbor East marina Saturday night. I have stayed there before and was very happy however I am a little concerned with the construction and the temporary arrangements for showers and heads. Has anyone stayed at the IHE recently? Should I be concerned or is everything fine? I tried to get into the new Baltimore Marine Center but they were booked.

Couldn't have been Inner Harbor East. They haven't pumped fuel in years, and they've never had a pool to my knowledge. Plus, that's the friendliest staff I've ever run into. Capt. Bill would have set him up with what help he needed.

Hey Guys,

I was told this is where the "talk" was at!

Anyway I happen to work at Inner Harbor East Marina and believe me we have gotten our share of every rumor you could imagine. So let me try to help straighten things out.

We do have docks, electric, water, heads, showers, an office....

We are not "transient only". We are doing monthly and annuals. Our biggest problem right now is parking. If we can't provide you with parking we are discounting our rate to help ease the pain. Yes, we are still going to do our winter storage deal. The contractors moved us to trailers while they work on the Legg Mason/Four Seasons project....believe me this was not our idea and we had little/no say over the matter. In the future we have plans to be into a new marina building, but the time frame on that is not yet carved in stone. Yes, our web site is down by choice. It may be back up over the winter...we're talking that over now. We've installed a new pump out system and are waiting for construction to finalize things. Gas and Diesel pumps have been gone for some time now. A parking garage will be built where our tanks once were. ("bmetros" I do think you have us confused with somebody else).

"mixman", thanks so much for the kind words...and yes Capt. Bill would of sent me with the wet vac.

If you have any questions please feel free to send me a message, contact Capt. Bill or call the office. We'd all be glad to help however possible.

Thanks to all.

Wes - No problem. We love IHE in the "off season" (Nov-March). We'll see you in a few weeks. We've got that 30' powercat with 2 Hondas that you've probably seen before.

For location purposes, and the best staff & treatment: IHE is the best marina to visit in B'more, Hon!

Hey Kurt,

Of course I remember you & the boat...weren't you going to take it south...or did you already?

Let me know the exact date you're coming in so I'll make sure I'm around.

Regards.

West, the Inner Harbor East is always our first choice, you guys always do a great job especially Millie.

IHE is a great marina for transients too. We were there over the labor day weekend with our yacht club. IHE is still the closest marina to Little Italy restaurants and only a short walk to Fells Point and the rest of the Inner Harbor attractions.

We were cetainly worried this past spring when we saw all of the construction underway but our stay several weeks ago turned out to be a good one. Hopefully the construction in the area will be done by early next summer.

Wes - We're coming in on a club cruise Oct 5-7th. And back again for a personal trip on the 13th.

Thanks guys for the kind words...I will be sure and pass them along.

Hi Wes,

I am sorry if I communicated "inaccurate" information about "transients only"; I left IHE at the end of April 2007 (and wrote the thread 6/13) based on the signs in the office stating "no seasonal or annual contracts being sold" due to the parking issues. If you are not writing contracts, then you are becoming a "transient" dock as the existing contracts expire (this was my intent using the word "transients"...) I'm glad IHE is now getting a handle on the massive changes. Your business model and plans took a huge hit all at once, and I appreciate all that!

Further, I continue to state my months there last winter were great! - all the staff (particularly Wes and Bill and the ladies in the office) provided exceptional service to me. Despite the transitions going on, I'd still recommend IHE highly.

Hey Jim,

No apology needed, none what so ever. What you stated at the time of your post was very accurate. Last winter/spring when you stayed with us things were up in the air, as you knew first hand and posted truthfully, and yes at the time of the destruction Capt. Bill did decide not to write anymore contracts. He had felt that until he could provide some sort of stability to our monthly/annual customers he would hold off. I owe you an apology if I made it seem you were telling anything less than the truth.

My postings on this site was mostly to give people an update as to where we are at now and to quiet the rumors. I wish I had a dime for every phone call that started with "I heard you were...." I'd be in the islands now.

Jim, thanks for spending last winter with us. We were glad you got "stuck" working downtown.

Update: The slurry walls should be done and the trucks are starting to dig out for the garage.

Regards to all.

Wes

Thanks Wes! I may be back there in NovemberDecember timeframe with the "new to us" Constellation (no, not the big one up the street!) ;-))
