I haven't been to the inner harbor in a few years, plan on spending a few nights (by boat) in August with the family, three kids under 12. I understand that there have been recent renovations and am looking for opinions on these 2 marinas.

Inner Harbor East - I think they have the best location. Almost everything you'd want to see or do is within walking distance (Aquarium, Power Plant, restaurants/Little Italy). The office is now located in the Legg Mason building as well are the new bathrooms. Very nice. I believe they might be running a "stay 2 nights get the 3rd free" special, but you'd have to call and check. The only negative: no pool.

Inner Harbor Marine Center - Not as much to walk to. But there's the water taxi. They have access to a pool at a nearby hotel (a block or two away I believe).

There's also Harbor View marina, which has their own pool on a barge. But they've opened it to the public and turned it into a tiki bar. I'm not sure how "kid friendly" it is.

Hands down, INE for everything mixman says above. Harbor East isn't very convenient to things, either. We always enjoyed INE and probably would even more now with the new digs...

You mean Inner Harbor Marine Center isn't convenient to things? That's what my point was. IHE (Inner Harbor East) is VERY convenient.

Having stayed at both, we found the two VERY convienent to Camden Yards, Power Plant, Fells Point, Aquarium, etc. We did this walking with two children who went with us starting at age six until they were in their twenties.

Thanks for the info. The pool is important for the kids, IHE has everything but the pool.

My slip neighbor in Annap. was at Inner East for the 4th, and lost power for several hrs. the first night, and then several hrs. the following day. Maybe just a holiday glitch ?

We actually lost power early in the afternoon on the 4th then again later in the evening of the same day. Luckily we had full staff and emergency help on call to get us back up and running. By the following day everything was back to normal.

Agreed! I mixed up my marina names - meant Harborview isn't convenient.

We were at Inner Harbor East July 4th weekend as well. Clean bathrooms and showers. Good security. Short walk to anything we needed. Had dinner at Flemmings. Great steaks. Great service. We'll be back next year.

Glad to hear that Inner Harbor East has gotten rid of the temporary office trailer/showers. we liked the location, although the reflected sun from nearby buildings can make things pretty hot. They really do need to sort out some sort of pool access, though. We'll be there from August 19-23 with our go-fast friends from New Jersey. There will be some impressive hardware there...
