I talked to a guy who stayed on the boat at the marina in Charlestown, MD on the Northeast River and he said during the night his boat stopped rocking and he locked out and all the boats were in the mud. The wind pushed all the water out. Did this happen at others places in the upper Chesapeake? The opposite of a tidal surge.

same thing happened in Charlotte Harbor, FL - 1960 Hurricane Donna

We had a slight blow-out down here at Thomas Point. Isabelle was 4 ft over my pier and Irene stayed 2 ft under, so the wind direction sure was a relief. Still blowin out today, and with all the runoff it is a welcome breeze. Now if I could just get some electric. Tired of listening to the genny.

Yes, Still Pond's Saturday PM High Tide was more like a mid-winter super low tide. At least it allowed my neighbor to spot and retrieve my errant engine cover!

If you are on the western side of the hurricane, water may be be pushed out as the storm is in a counter clockwise motion.
