Hi all,

I am planning on bringing our boat down to the Bay on Sep. 29th so that we can volunteer for PICYA's annual wheelchair regatta.

This is a very worthwhile event that honors and entertains our wheelchair bound veterans. Veterans from the various hospitals and care facilities are bussed down to the Encinal Yacht Club in Alameda where they are assigned a volunteer companion. Power boaters volunteer their boats to take the veterans out for a hour or two ride on the Bay and perhaps out the Golden Gate. When they return, a barbequed lunch is provided along with music. For many of these veterans it is one of the few times that they actually get out of the VA hospitals. If you would like to help or get more information please check out: http://www.wheelchairregatta.homestead.com/index.html

We will be keeping our boat at Encinal YC the following week and then taking some families out to enjoy the Fleet Week Festivities. The Blue Angels will be out flying again and the Parade of Ships{/i] will be one of the largest in recent years. We will be anchored near the wash rock on the west side of Alcatraz. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by anf say hi.
