Is there a standard for Fresh Water Pipe Sizes ?

I'm embarking on a little project to add a digital water meter to my Larson 310 so that I can accurately monitor how much fresh water I have used.

I was on the boat at the week-end with the intention of removing a small sample of the existing fresh water plumbing so that I could get all of the right sized fittings, but all of the connections seem to be permanently bonded, and I don't want to destroy any pipes in case the new products don't turn up.

I assume that the plumbing coming out of the fresh water pump should be half inch, or 13 mill, but the pipes appear the my untrained eye to maybe be a little smaller, perhaps 10 mill. The pipes are a clearish (white), high density poly, with permanent collars around all of the fittings.

Is there a standard for modern boat pipes ? The boat is a 2006 model.

The 15mm stuff is normally red for hot and blue for cold. If yours is all white it may very well be the half inch piping???

Most builders use PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) tubing and fittings; standard size is 3/8"

Thanks Guys,

Sounds like I'd better get a selection of 3/8 and 1/2 fittings to be sure - wished I'd moored in a marina with a chandlery store !
