I went into our Sporting goods store today. It's a miniature version of Bass Pro but this one's over 50 years old and being run by a Grandson.
I like the local Pro shop.

He said the Winter sales were really good this year. Lot's of people are fishing for the Freezer he says.

I cant go in there without buying something.
I got some 1/16 Oz jig heads and some little plastic minnow looking things.

I saw the dangdest thing. Some kind of a Spider looking thing.
One heavy weight fastened to your line.
Five stainless legs, about 8" long in a spider leg arrangement and one coming out of the middle. All legs have the Snap Swivel attached.

Each leg would have a Jig, minnow, something on it.
You cast the whole works out and retrieve. Or Troll along dragging this thing out behind the boat.
$18 was a lot I thought. Maybe later on this year.

Was that perhaps a 123 Castable Umbrella Rig? Never tried one but, looks interesting if it doesn't get a snagged up when it lands.

Larger non-castable umbrella rigs like 9'ers Lures , tuna spreader bars and offshore dredges can get pretty spendy but work wonders at times.

If you ever want to stay on land and fish long distance without casting, check out this fishing torpedo from NZ : http://fishingtorpedo.co.nz/ More than $18 though....

Ho Sandy, what a deal.
I'd just put my PFD on and let that thing pull me out into the lake some where!

In Washington State they fish for Sturgeon up near the Dam's on the Columbia River.
But they cannot get within 400' of the Dam.
So....they make little RC Controlled boats. Hook the bait onto the back end of the little boat, drive it up to the face of the Dam, and let the bait come off up there, and call the boat back for the next "Cast".

That 1st conjures up quite an image, Thuddie!

I've thought of the RC-craft fishing angle in the past , but had been thinking more along the lines of RC trolling over to give a fish pal's line a good tug or clip from shore or boat to even up the score on the ridiculometer. That could be interesting at night as I have a gen 3 NV device so I could see where to direct it in full dark.
Aww , I wouldn't do that.

I almost didn't post this one.
If your fishing for large fish with light tackle. As in a lake with your Crappy rig, and hook into a big Catfhis.
Your Rod or line will break if you try to fight the big Cat.
So....You take your 9 Volt battery out of the Tackle box.
Hang it on your line with something that will let if slide down the line to the fish.
Put a Paper clip on the Plus side, sticking out an inch or so.
Nothing on the Minus side.

When the Stinger hit's that Cat, he's been Tazared!
He's gonna sleep pretty soundly for a few minutes.
Then you can horse him up and net him without losing anything.

Don't bother checking the Reg's. I doubt if this is legal for anybody except the fish counters at F&G.

LOL I got a got charge out of that one. That must be the fried catfish everyone raves about down thataway.
Phoebe Bufay from the TV show FRIENDS may have been influenced by this when she wrote her famous song:
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It's not your fault.

LOL, you got a Charge out of it eh?

I wonder about that but I'm not gonna try it on anything. Well maybe Phoebe's Cat!
I like that show.
I was watching that show in AK when they interrupted to show us the plane heading into the tower.

I wonder what would happen if I 'discussed' this on a Catfish forum?
Would the Gendarmes come knocking?

They might threaten to beat you with a wet noodler.

Well, the Crappie guys think it's BS. More internet junk.
I wasn't gonna try it anyway.
