B-I-L used the head, came back up and said head wasn't working.

So I go down to check it out and the relay clicks but the motor isn't turning. Panel showing 20+ Amp load when pushing button.
I saw that there is a fuse there for the tank monitor but it doesn't make a difference if it us in or out.

Hoping for an easy fix. Any ideas? Relay needs replacing or do I need to scoop out all the matter in the bowl and disassemble?

Have you tried reaching something in there, like a long piece of stiff wire, and moving the macerator blade a bit? Or does the shaft protrude at all through the back of the motor and you could get pliers on it? Maybe if you moved it you'd get off a dead spot and you could get it to crank over.

If you are putting 20a into it, it's unlikely there's an electrical issue external to the motor. It sounds like the motor is trying to turn. Is the motor hot or warm when you are pushing the button?

It's probably 10 years since I got rid of that model but I think any disassembly has to happen from the head end which means the bowl is empty and the whole pump unit is removed.

No way to get to the motor shafts, totally enclosed.

I'll try poking a piece of wire down there tomorrow when I'm back on board.

I really appreciate the suggestions.

I agree it sounds like the motor is stalled. I've had this head for 15+ years and at least twice the motor failed, once the armature rusted to the field. I have a career background in motors so I was able to disaasemble the motor and repair it both times. If you're not wanting to do that you can buy a new motor. It's really not as nasty job as you might imagine. I took the whole toilet out and back home. Cleaned it with Clorox and went about the repair.

Thanks.
Coat hanger suggestion unfortunately didn't work, tried it on the other head first and couldn't feel anything movable on the working head. Same for the non working one.
Diagram is helpful, looks easy enough to disassemble and see what's going on in there.
