My Jabsco Model 18590, installed on a three year old boat, and which has only been used less than 5 times, had a failure of the nut and stud system that holds it together. All three studs broke likely due to corrosion. Luckily the macerator didn't fully separate being held in place by the hoses but it still caused a small leak in the bilge.

I replace my zincs often and the macerator was grounded into the boats grounding system. Does anyone have a clue as to why this would happen? I have only used the macerator less than five times.

Thanks.

it happened because Jabsco Impeller macerators are POS that any decent builder should not install....

sorry to be blunt, but i've never seen one lasting more than 2 or 3 years... get a sealand diaphragm waste pump... a little more $$ but well worth it, they are almost un-destructible

LOL, this is exactly what my "Head" guy said when I showed it to him, right down to recommending the Sealand. I appreciate the second opinion.

I just replaced the exact same model, lasted me six seasons and up unitl the last few seasons I used it all the time. Also, I replaced it because I thought it was the source of a smell in my boat, not because it was not working. This may be a case of if you don't use it you loose it.

I threw the pump away, other wise I would have given it to you.
