Thinking of reserving for the July 4 weekend in 08. Jonathan or anyone else give us the lowdown on seeing the fireworks from there?

We had a response on the LICC from someone who said they were not good.

Thanks

We were there this past July 4th, the view of the Macy's fireworks is not good from the marina, but the view of fireworks at Liberty State Park was spectacular! As we checked out we made reservations for '08, so that may say something about how we feel about time spent there. I will say after viewing fireworks in the Hudson Valley, what is missing from the displays in NYC is the reverberations from the mountains we have. You might say we get "surround sound" with our fireworks displays up here, we get more BANG for our buck literally!

Yes, you will have to walk a ways to see the fireworks. It's not a bad walk, but, you have to pay a premium and that didn't sit well when we were given the impression we would have a good view of them from the boat.
Four night minimum and 4 bucks a foot.. Pricey for the privilege of standing 4 or 5 deep by a rail on the dusty ground.
BUT
We will still go there other times given the convenience to the city and the local restaurant.

What's good about Liberty during the 4th is that you can take your boat out and watch them if you want to and you will have a quick ride back to the dock to continue the party.

Not sure how it was setup this past year, if they had the fireworks on the NJ side near the statue or not. 2 years ago they did and we could see them from the flybridge. If they aren't on the NJ side you will not see them.

There are fireworks going off all around the marina that weekend and you can see most of it, just not sure about how Macy's will setup this coming year.
