This is my first year fishing for walleye. I am out Fairport, Ohio and I am looking for any suggestions on where to look. I am not set up for trolling and with gas prices I don't think I ever will, so any suggestions on what to use for drifting would help.

Talk to the locals. You are in deep water and it has been my experience that trolling is the only to get 'em in your area and mine. The western end around the islands is better suited for drifting.

Good luck

I fished for Walleye in Canada several times.
It was in a Shallow lake though. Some depths to 50 feet but we normall fished for them where we could cast to the shallows and retrive slowly to the deep.
We used 1/4 Oz white lead head jigs, with a big Red and white Eyeball on the Head.
Put a white curly tail grub squeezed up onto the hook. Bite off the head of the White Grub to shorten it a bit.
Make it grub around along the bottom like a feeding Fish or a pile worm.

The other guy who did well used a small spinner/jig called a Road Runner. He had all Chartruse Bodies.

If your gonna drift, you have to keep that bait moving to attract any fish.
You'll catch Crappie and Bass with that big grub. Check your reg's.
