The Brass Anchor restaurant burned to the ground yesterday! Located adjacent to the hyde Park Marina, this was a favorite for landlubbers and boaters alike, although some would say it wasn't as good as it had been in past years. The owners were not funneling money back into the establishment and so both the building and the marina were showing signs of age. It will be interesting to see the fire marshall's report as to cause.

Anybody have any more info about the fire?

Yeah, every few days there is a little piece about the fire being too intense for them to pin point the cause! Because of the location apparently it was well underway when first seen, then more lag time in the apparatus getting there and they had to pump water from the river, no hydrants in the vicinity. Can you imagine if this had been a typical winter, they wouldn't have had water because of the ice buildup. Anyway, by the time they had water on the building it was way too late. Rather than print words I'll let you folks read between the lines [:-eyebrows]

I don't know about you BUT I sure as heck wouldn't put Hudson river (accelerent) water on a fire.

Reminds me of what the father in law said about Guantanamo Bay. He used to swim out to help the sea planes in. Yes, swim.
They checked people out for the job by throwing people in to see who could swim, and not get sick. He watched the bay burn.

Kinda like the old Salem witch trials, dunk them under water, if they don't drown they are witches! If they did drown, they were not witches.
