late 80's 390 draft

begining to look at the late 80's 390 express because i can get it in the canal behind my house, draft restriction.

i am wondering if anyone has actual draft amount loaded.

i can pull it on sea ray website and from power boat guide...2' 4" but has anyone acutally measured from the waterline to the keel at the stern?
 
I have a 1988 34' Sundancer and the draft is 2' 6" with V-drives. I believe the 39 express has straight drive trannys. I can't believe the draft is 2' 4" with straight drives. I would think it is somewhere in the 3' range.
 
I have a friend with one. They have tunnels.
 
Thats the boat I was looking for but ended up with a 310.

Those late 80's early 90's 390 are TANKS, great boat.
 
seems they are tanks...just worried to see if it will come in the canal. that is why i am trying to find somebody that actually measured the draft of the boat vs. manufactures specs.
 
beachhouse...they are tunnel or pocket drives which keeps the draft shallow.

Got it. I didn't it would have tunnels with straight drives. It makes sense that the draft is 2.5'. I know someone that put diesels in that boat. It is a bit of a pig with the 7.4 gas motors but if you are not in a rush and dony't mind a cruise speed of 17 mph then the boat is well worth it.

billy -- need to change my signature...my boat sold 2 years ago. been spending more time at work then i thought so i have been absent from here for a while.

beach -- these boats were build from the factory with 3208 cats. the 85 model had approx 350hsp and the late 80's had 375hsp (they added an after cooler)

still wish i could find somebody that actually measured the draft of this boat to confirm the draft
 
28" is a realistic guideline for a 390EC. They have a shallow prop angle, modestly-sized props and deep tunnels. Note: in spite of the deep tunnels, the props are still lower than the keel. Also keep in mind that waterlines/draft vary not only from boat to boat, but on a given boat as well. My waterline is better fuel gauge than my actual fuel gauges! After you throw in variables like gas vs diesel engines, water, fuel, cargo, chain or rope anchor rode, saltwater or fresh, you realize that a precise draft figure is a moving target.
 
Actual draft is a moving target. When I sold the stamas i had enough gear to lift it up a solid 3 inches.
 
On the information I found from sea ray on my 88 340 EC, it states that I have a 28" draft. I also Have straight drives, not V due to the lack of an aft cabin, which would make it a Sundancer(with V). Mine are in tunnels but my rudders do stick down below the keel. I am assuming the 28 inches is including the rudder? I know having the motors mid ship with straight drives, the boat sits nice in the water, not aft heavy.
 
My 1986 390 Express measures 28-29" from prop tip to waterline. However when you put 300 gallons fuel, 100 gallons water and all the rest of your stuff it will draw around 32". It will draw more water when it is transition from hull speed to getting up on plane.
