I'm heading up to the boat now. I pulled a breaker out yesterday ordered new ones on line but I want to but things back together until the parts come in. Looking forward to relaxing on the boat this afternoon.
 
I mounted my satellite dish and Rogue antenna. Now I just gotta figure out how to work the Rogue!
 
Did you run the wire for the Rogue back to a Router? If so just set up the Router and log into the Rogue using a browser and select the Access point of choice and you are done it's very simple I would be happy to stop by and give you a hand if you need.
 
Dave, I have not hooked it up to router yet. Is there a particular one you recommend?
 
I generally use Cisco but whatever you find a good deal on will work fine for what you need, unless your goal is to supply internet to all your dock mates then you will want a high power output router. I don't remember what brand unit Billy sent me with the wave but it has been flawless since I installed it I could be wrong but I think it is a TRENDnet you can find them fairly inexpensive.

Are you planning to run this on 12volts? if so then you will have to be a bit more selective. I'm running mine on 120 so I can use anything. You would need a 12 volt POE injector for the wave which I don't have so I didn't bother finding a 12 volt router.
 
Mike - I had a detailed discussion w/ BillyIII when I set up the router on my Rogue. He suggested decreasing the power output of the router, and setting it to channel 6, in an effort to minimize interference w/ the Rogue. I dunno if that discussion is still on ATC, but you may benefit from a search. Your rogue setup menu will have a section for adding hotspots, and the ability to choose one a 'priority' . . . it should also automatically pick up one on that list when in range (but it doesn't seamlessly switch, like a cellphone does.) On my Rogue, this feature was part of a firmware update package, not on the out-of-the box firmware - but my Rogue was 'new' two years ago. . . so you may have that feature.

Like Dave, mine is all 110VAC - I'm using a cheap NetGear router.
 
I took a look an there web site and it looks like it comes with an Ac and DC option so you have a choice so see if you can find a router that runs on 12 volts and you will be all set. I don't know of any but I haven't looked either. I guess a small inverter would do the trick.
 
my rogue is AC or DC. Most routers convert 110 AC to 12VDC, so if I cut off the transformer and hard wire it to DC I should be fine.

No problem are you around this Friday? I plan to take the day off and spend the day at the boat. If not we will find time. Did you run the wire already?
 
yes, wire is run. I will on boat from noon on, tomorrow

My pleasure! But I forgot to mention you need to set your Cablevision account to auto log in your device if you didn't already do this before I got there. I setup a second unit on New Freedom this weekend as well, these things are great! I'm surprised more people don't have them.
 
Guys is this the "rogue wave long range marine wifi" system that sells for lower $300 dollars?

On my list of things to do is to mount a TV/DVD player but I'm thinking I might eliminate the DVD and get a lighter unit with Roku/netflix built in...tons of options nowadays!!

Heck I can use a 12vDC computer monitor, I have tons of those!
 
yes it is, Chris. We hooked ours up to a router and streamed Netflix last weekend. It worked perfectly.
 
New Freedom plugged their smart TV into the router and watched Netfix she said it worked better then the tv in her home bedroom. Very cool!
