Over the Memorial Day weekend I observed several large timbers semi-submerged in the middle of Long Island Sound opposite and east of New London. In one case what appeared to be an entire tree was floating along. These timbers were 4-6 inches or more across and 6-10 feet long. I assume these hazards came down the Connecticut River. Regardless, keep an eye out and stay safe!
