Anyone ever ship a car from N.Y. to Florida ?

Our plans changed....and the admiral wants to keep her car now when we move to Florida......rather then selling it up here as originally planned. I already drove my car down and flew back.....I don't have time to do it again.

I need a good auto transporter service.

I think Mark bought a Mustang here and had someone move it to FL, sure he will chime in.

Whats up with that, you can't make up your mind where you want the car to go? :)

Have you looked at UShip dot com? Its like EBay for shipping. Post what you want to ship and where its going, and reputable carriers bid on the job. You can select whomever you want, does not have to be the lowest bidder. Other customers rate their experience with the carriers, which adds piece of mind when making the selection.

Good luck.

This may actually be a good time to do it as at least here in WI the snowbirds are getting ready to return (have their cars shipped back from FL) and I would imagine if the truckers are local to FL you they may get aggressive price wise so they don't have to dead head the whole way back...

You could drive down to Washington and then take the car-train overnight to Florida. The train leaves daily from a station near Washington at Lorton. Easy and not expensive. If you want to drive down to Washington you welcome to stay with me overnight, and I am about 20 miles from Lorton.

Thanks for all the info.....LB...thanks for the invite....the train ride would be a great way to do it....if I had the time. I really want to have it picked up here locally and have it delivered to my place in Florida. I can have a buddy of mine waiting there to accept delivery....thats not a problem.

I do plan on a one way truck rental to bring furniture down... at the end of April.....but thats to early for her to give up her car. Im thinking more towards the end of June. We plan to head out mid July.

Don,
I shipped my mustang a few years ago. Jocar transporters.631-208-9380. Ask for Carol.

Don,

Make sure you shop around. I've heard from several that have done it in the past that there are some big price swings.

I will drive it if you pay for the beer and food and gas?

Is this boating related?
Come on moderators, showing favoritism here.
Just because he is old and retired!

I thought because I asked....." Anyone ever SHIP a car "......it would be boating related.......no ?

Don,
My friend just shipped a car down a month ago, I'll find out who he used and post it later. The shipper was door to door five days.

Don,
Just make sure that the car will remain on the same truck fornthe entire trip. Some of these guys transfer them to other trucks on the way to consolidate the load. As i recall mine was 3-4 days.

Don,
here is the info:
