On our early May trip, I believe our best discovery was anchoring out at Clipper cove. In May, we had the cove to ourselves. The cove is well protected from the wind. The bottom is gray clay. If you drop an anchor, the guides recommend backing down on the anchor for a full minute. Once done, you're set for the night.

I honestly think it's a better place to spend the night than Angel Island, which can get crowded and bumpy with the ferry traffic.

Treasure Island. The cove is on the East Side of the Island. There's actually two island there, Yerba Buena and Treasure Island and they're connected by a road. The cove lays between the two islands.

...and the cove is named for the Pan Am China Clippers, which used to taxi in and up the big ramp to the hangars on Treasure Island....
