My Carver is 20 years old with all mechanicals in good operating order. I have it pretty good looking as well but alot of the soft stuff need work. This year is not going to be a good boating year for me so I thought maybe it would be a good time to do some refit work..
The interior of a carver looks pretty easy to pull out. I have removed many of the parts. Whats the deal with the large glass interior peices.. Setee, dinette, head enclosure.. can these be unscrewed and removed easily ? Looks like the forward birth is one piece of glass and thats not comming out obviouly but the rest I should be able to free ? The goal is to do a cleanout, rewire, some plumming here and there, re-deck and then replace all soft goods and headliner.. I dont here or see to many major jobs like this talked about.. Is that becasue its so difficult, not worth it ? ( 85 36 mariner )

Well...from what I've seen in mine and many other Carvers at work, the fiberglass pieces that are low in the boat are (usually) tabbed into the boat with fiberglass as I've never seen screws to hold them in. My fwd section (dinette) is a module and is glassed into the stringers and hull of the boat. Best suggestion I can tell you is, look around, inside and under anything you're wanting to remove...it'll let you know if it's removable.

Thanks Ram.. I just dont want to get into the job if I cant do the job in the first place.. Also you had said previously that the hold down for deck hardware are glassed in backing plates, this is correct as I remembered ?

on most Carvers, yes...It did vary per model back in the 80s on when the model was originally introduced.

RAM, on 2005 SS 33, to remove A/C do I unscrew the forward dinette seat? Would you know where I can find a screw pattern diagram?

I'll have to check on that for you. We've never had to remove a unit yet. If I remember right though, I thought it was kind of a tight spot they've mounted it in.
