Trailering the boat down to Marathon end of Aug for some snorkeling at Coffins Patch Reef. Would like to put the wife on some fish. Dont know if I want to make a run out to the hump. Any alternatives and reccomendations would be greatly appreciated i.e. tackle, target fish, methods areas etc would be greatly appreciated.

How about yellow tail on or just off the reef? Action, fun, fillets and you save gas by staying close to shore. Couple blocks of chum bring up all sorts of fish with the larger YTs behind the ballyhoo. Light line and drifting the baited hook with the chum gets the hits.

Sounds like a plan, really apreeciate it> Are you drifting ballyhoo for bait? Trolling? Any specific jigs you rec?
