Over the weekend, there were a few boats that were broken into here at the Sacramento Marina. Does anyone have an intrusion alarm? I have seen something like that at radio shack, that will set off a local alarm if someone enters the boat. Just wondering if anyone has something like that.

Have a great day,

I have an alarm on my ski boat, basically just an automotive alarm. Pretty simple to install. The noise might scare off some theives but people pretty much ignore such alarms so it isn't that great of a deterant.

I don't worry too much about that on B-dock. The continuous partying keeps most thieves away.

I have two of the Radio Shack alarms. They run on 9 volt batteries and can be set to alarm or chime. If there are other berthers nearby or a security patrol, they will be alerted by the alarms which will continue until the batteries run down or someone turns the switch to OFF.

I've had no false alarms. They do not go off from wakes, etc, The air between the alarm and the background [eisenglass, bulkhead, etc] must be "broken" by movement to set it off. It is definately worth the $15 or so they cost!

I hope they beef up security now........best of luck!

i pulled boat out on there 2 months ago
to sell, even with the new building in the same location as old pump bldg. its still easy
for a small boat to get in.i called a few who are still down there, no info yet.
i heard some boats got painted too.

Is the Sacramento Marina the City Marina? Sacramento Yacht Club Marina?

For Sac City that is no big deal. After their guard was shot and killed around 2002 their security sucked. "A" dock was hit pretty hard, "B" dock too. In the summer you used to be able to broad jump from the bank to "A" Dock. We were is A2 when they stole a batch of stuff from us. Luckily the salon, etc. was locked, but the rest could not be.

So which was it?

It was the Sacramento Marina at Miller Park according to Ch 3 reporting on the matter.

How are you doing these days? Is your boat up for sale yet?
