Marinas deemed non essential in NYS

I left NY where the marinas were ordered to close and brought my boat to CT where at least for now there are no such restrictions. I have been to the boat everyday since Sunday and I have yet to see another person at the marina. This is going to be an interesting season but it's still early maybe life will return to normal at some point this year?

I feel very lucky to have gotten an early start on unwrapping and prep. I’m in the water and although there isn’t anywhere to go, at least I can hang out on my boat at my dock and take rides on nice days.

OK - I think we need to revolt here, this is ridiculous! I just came from grocery shopping, arrived 7am, waited in line, 6 feet apart for half-hour to be allowed in. Masks, gloves, etc. Each aisle has a designated direction and you are guided to the end (beer aisle) to wait to checkout. Overall, very stressful but I get it and appreciate trying to appease everyone. Over the top for me but I will go with the flow to allow others to feel safe. Maybe they are high risk or live with their 90yr old grandma, I don't know, so lets be patient.

But....we need a release! Gyms are closed, bars and restaurants are closed, theaters and concerts, sporting goods, casinos, amusement parks, beaches (predicted) all closed. But why close marinas, golf courses, un-manned launch ramps and now....tennis courts!! TENNIS - where you play 50 feet apart(or something, I never played).

C'mon people, lets look for things we CAN do responsibly. This is overreach and lack of common sense. What next, solitaire is prohibited?

Did you hear the NJ governor last night on Tucker? He said that he didn't consider the Bill of Rights when he banned religious gatherings????? He said, "the Bill of Rights is above my pay grade"

What other Constitutional Right will be under attack next? This is the first step towards ignoring the 2nd Amendment. The time to revolt is fast approaching!

that's pretty funny because I predict he is about to get a wake up call and a lawsuit no doubt. I guess he forgot that he is the USA where anyone can sue anyone.

As far as the commercial fishing license goes, I'm at the Town of Hempstead East Marina. There is a sign as you drive in stating "Marina is closed. If you need to check your boat contact the bay constable at xxx-xxxx. Even at the best of times they break your balls. I'm guessing if you try the commercial fishing licenses business on your recreational boat they will really make life tough for you. Not gonna risk a hefty fine just for a boat ride or a couple of hours of fishing.

Hi Ken....all good on the east coast. Hope you and the family are all good too!

I was shocked by Murphy’s comments. An unlawful order is still unlawful. Be some money to be made in a lawsuit somewhere. Just sue the poor minion carrying out these orders. There is no way some of these governors are getting legal opinions before they act because they know on the surface it’s illegal. They don’t want a legacy document floating around saying as much.

...And the Governor of New York just pushed back the social distancing order to May 15. I guess I wasn't surprised.

As of yesterday, it appears that marinas are now open.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/coronavirus-live-updates-ny-nj-ct-governors-announce/story?id=70229529

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont today announced marinas, boatyards and marine manufacturers will be allowed open for personal use as long as strict social distancing and sanitization protocols are followed. Chartered watercraft services or rentals will not be allowed, and restaurant activity at these sites must be limited to take-out or delivery only, like anywhere else in the three states. This announcement aligns the policies of the three states on this particular service.

that's good news for most of us....
