I was wondering how the Maurice river coped with the storm since my boat is (or was) there. I know I read that the levee broke at the wildlife management area, so I suppose those marinas are cut off during high tide now. Anyone know how Popeye's marina did or how about further up the river - like at Boat World? I'm sure I can't drive down there yet and am curious.

I heard that Fortesque to a pretty good hit so I would assume that Maurice River may have taken a hit as well. Good luck and let us know if you hear anything.

I already told the family to assume the boat's gone. It was out and on blocks, but if it toppled over, it's toast.

I went down and checked the area out yesterday. While my boat and most everything upriver from Boat World is fine, the same can't be said for the mouth of the river. It's in shambles. The levee broke at the wildlife refuge and flooded the area and all of the marinas off Matt's Landing road with what was reported as a 12ft surge. Popeye's marina was hit hard with the owners house flooded, bait house flooded, and tool shed heavily damaged. The other side of the river was even worse. I was told that at least one of the commercial clam boats broke free and was pushed way up into the flats. Fortescue is right around the corner and was hit hard too with many houses damaged. I kind of felt guilty as I drove home.

It isn't your fault that some were hit hard and you were not! Just be thankful and reach out to help others. I'm glad your boat was fine!
