Does anybody know how to best address the fading and peeling of the metallic trim that covers the area around the aft deck enclosure and brow of Carver 356's? It looks like a narrow band which is screwed into the gelcoat (almost like a rub rail).

I own this boat but still not sure of what you are referring to. Can you post a picture perhaps ? Thanks

Are you talking about the 3/4" wide aluminum strip where the halves of the bridge and or hardtop come together? If so, I think it's just bare aluminum so you could take a scotchbrite pad to it to buff it up, or remove it, sand and paint.

Yes. It's the aluminum strip that runs around the perimeter of the aft hard top and the Flybridge / Brow. It's degraded with exposure to the elements. Looks like a big job to bring it back to the original look.

You may be able to find a replacement at your local Carver dealer...I believe they still use it. If not, I think it is a common item that can be ordered by any marine retailer

Yes you can find that stuff online, it is also available in stainless steel. I often wondered how it would look painted with that hammer finish spray paint. google rub rail trim and moulding

If it's what I think you're referring to I painted mine with Interlux's one part epoxy. It was originally white but had peeled and looked bad. It is aluminum.

They also make it in white plastic...which in a salt environment, may be a better way to go

Does Caver still stock the replacement trim? I usually contact Bret Temple for parts questions at the plant.

I would think so. If not, Bret can give you the name of the company they bought it from. I'm sure it's Taco, but may be someone else
