Planning trip to block Island next week
mid week and wondering can you reserve a mooring.
Any info and advice welcome.

Moorings cannot be reserved. They are owned by the town. They are first come first served. I usually try to get their on a weekday between 9:00 and 10:00 for the best chance to get a mooring. You can only take the green or orange (for larger boats) moorings. The white ones are private.

Dave, I recall seeing blue moorings in addition to green, orange and white. Are the blue town also?

I don't recall seeing blue moorings. The town moorings start in front of Champlins Marina on your starboard side when entering the harbor.

I just got back from a week at block. We were lucky to find a town mooring for us to pick up. During the week we were there, I saw only two moorings open. Dave is correct, the town moorings are green and orange. Drive around the mooring field until you see someone getting ready to leave, then wait there to pick it up when they drive off. Either call the harbor master or just wait and he will come by for payment, it's $35 per night. You can also have two boats on the mooring if you have a friend out there with you. Enjoy your stay in paradise. Denis

Strange, I could have sworn I saw light blue ind addtion to the above colors starting on starboard near champlins. Hoping to go out this weekend and will double check my vision.

If you cannot find an open town mooring I am told that you should contact the Harbor Master. I'm told that he controls some private moorings that he will direct you to if he knows the owners will be away. I have not tried this but my source is pretty good.

All the best,
