My very unhappy toilet is now making Wifey VERY UNHAPPY!!! For all I know, I could be the cause of all this.

THE PROBLEM:

My model has a small tank on the left side as viewed from the front. I added some anti-stentch stuff to the tank believing the stuff would siphon back into the bowl. At least it did so in prior years.

The stentch stuff....make that anti-stentch, maybe it just doesn't make a difference anyway because the purchased stuff has its own stink. Now for a complete sentence--- the small tank seems to be filling with raw water when I flush rather than discharging its contents into the bowl for washing action.

It might stink, but it has great color---- Royal Purple all over Wifey's carpet along with other areas of the floor. Now I am on the hook to her to fix the rb2rb2@gr5tgr5t#$% thing plus purchase another throw carpet.

HELP PLEASE SOMEONE!!!!

OK, I just got around to reading Vic's sticky for spring commissioning, long after the rb2rb2@gr5tgr5t#$% toilet would not fill after this spring's launch. But it did fill after I ran the pump for a while. The bowl does get washed with salt water as expected plus flushes OK so maybe the impeller is not damaged.

Other than that, I am stuck but I am smart enough to ask for help from those who are much smarter than I.

Ideas anybody??

I had a PHII that was acting up like that and I got REAL tired of messing with it. so, here's what I did.

1) I unhooked all of the lines and loosened all of the floor mounting bolts.
2) I callede Vic at BoatFix and ordered a Raritan Marine Elegance fresh water flush head.
3) Upon new head arrival I removed peaky PHII and tossed it.
4) I then installed new marine Elegance head.
5) I'm happy, wife is happy and new head is really REALLY nice!

Robert, Foggy has a Crown Head, not a PHII. The Crown Head is an all-electric macerating toilet that's been on the market since 1965. The PHII is a completely different animal; it is a manual toilet that can be converted to an electric toilet at a later date.

The small tank on the left side is supposed to be used together with Raritan "Concentrate" deodorant and lubricant or, Raritan's "CP - Cleans Potties." Nothing else. Neither of them is blue, green or purple - they're more or less clear in color. If you'd stuck with what's supposed to be used in it, and had not getten adventurous, everything should have been OK.

What you'll need to do now is to replace the check valve that keeps the water from refilling (and overflowing) the reservoir tank on its own.
Raritan part # CH37E.

I just got a new Crown, it has an anti-siphon valve in the tank you describe it's on the end of the hose that goes into the tank, at least it is supposed to be. Sounds like yours fell off or is not working, while the pump is running it will siphon but when the pump stops it will drain some of the water that should go into the bowl into the tank. I bet yours fell off and is in the tank.

Vic-- Adventurous heck! If it came from Wally World, it has to be good..........maybe.

Thank you for your pointer to the check valve that I will order. But first, is this thing made of precious metals rb2@gr5t $36.45 a pop? Where does it go? Also, where will I find the Raritan deodorant that I hope does not fit into the precious metal category?

By chance, can you give me a pointer to a parts breakdown of my toilet so I can get a better understanding of how things work in it?

Thanks--

I told you, the valve is on the end of the hose that goes in the tank, what don't you understand about that. Make sure it is still on the tube. I would guess it is not. You sound like a helpless person, having a boat I feel sorry for you, and God help us.

Ahaa, sorry about that. Title to the thread said PH2, I mistook it for PHII. Velly solly. :)

Yes, I screwed up with the title. Heck, I am not a toilet expert.

UPDATE--

I finally had time to check out the head since this was first posted. What I found was somewhat as described by Vic and yes, JimPend.....THANKS JIM! When I first posted the question, I could not visualize the toilet components (was not on the boat) along with having just had trouble with two toilet tanks in my apartments. The thought of the small plastic tank did not even occur to me especially after repairing two house toilets earlier.

I found the plastic hose that siphons water and what not from the side mounted plastic tank. The plastic hose was intact with the plastic antisiphon device in place. I noticed the device could be disassembled for cleaning which I did.

I flushed the thing out with fresh water and it now seems to work at least it works OUTSIDE of the tank. If it goes belly up, I will order a new one but I want to give the part I have another try.

Emotions-- everybody has a bad day occasionally myself included. Sometimes it quicker and wrong to react rather than let things go by. I believe everybody here in the forum is serious in their attempt to help others.

I'm glad you found the one way valve, that's the problem. I get upset when we can't get these things fixed.
I just had installed a new Crown on my boat, after 20 years I thought the old one had done it's job. I also knew that the new ones didn't make as much noise when flushed. Well did the "smoke test" leak test in this case, and had a small puddle in back of the Crown, I redid the incoming hose connection and still a leak, tracked it down to the hose connection to the side tank, I never hooked it up and water from the top of the bowl would drain there as well as into the bowl. I then thought what makes the side tank not run over, it was then I saw the one way valve. That's how I knew what your problem was.

Jim--

Experience is a wonderful thing! Thank you for your contributions.

Vic--

I like "ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! " best!!!

Sure, we all have our up's and down's. We just try to manage to have a greater number of up's and as few down's as reasonably possible. But it is sometimes tough to keep in mind the intention of forums such as these. The idea is to try to help the other guy because sometimes, we are the other guy.

This is a great forum where there is a lot of great guys with a great deal of experience!!!
